MALDITO FESTIVAL DE VIDEOPOESÍA is an international videopoetry contest that has been held in Albacete (Spain) since 2017.
MALDITO FESTIVAL launch this contest with the purpose to show two disciplines that, either individually or collectively, are much more isolated and forgotten as we would like. According to our experience, these disciplines are considered marginal and minor in the extent of the great European capitals, moreover, in the humble towns within regional borders where its dissemination is nonexistent.
MALDITO seeks to vindicate video poetry as an art that connects people, transmits feelings and stimulates different ways to see the world. It is also a tiny contribution of enormous people to empower visual art, stopping it from being marginal and damned*.
(* The Spanish word for damned is MALDITO).
The festival is organized by non-profit Association Cultural Maldito; formed by a small team of professionals from the film industry, poetry and culture in general.
MALDITO Crew, as lovers of poetry, image and the expressive possibilities of its symbiosis, we pick up the baton and propose to continue the line of action, encouraging their approach to the public, either with the festival events or the educational activities that we carry out.

What is the deadline?
The deadline for registration, as well as the reception of videopoems, is from 4 MARCH to JULY 10, 2024 at 12:00 h p.m (Spanish time).
How many videopoems can I send?
You can send a maximum of 2 videopoems.
Can I participate if I am a minor?
Yes, you can participate.
You must send us an authorization signed by your legal guardian. You will find it further down in the «registration» section.
If I want to participate with more than one videopoem, how many forms do I have to complete?
If you participate with more than one videopoem, you must fill out a form for each one.
How long should the videopoem last?
Maximum 5 minutes.
Should the videopoem have implicit poetry?
Yes, regardless of the visual and aesthetic treatment, the videopoem must contain poetry, recited, written or suggested.
Can I present a videopoem that I have already presented in previous editions?
No, we believed on new creations, so we prefer that you send us a new videopoem.
Can I send my videopoem in a Youtube link?
It is important that you send your videopoem in a download link (Google Drive, Wetransfer, DropBox…) or attached to your email.
Should I include subtitles in Spanish?
If your videopoem is made in a language other than Spanish, yes, it must include subtitles in Spanish.
How old should the videopoem be?
The videopoem must be made in 2021 at the latest.
How do I register my videopoem?
You have two options: By email or through the FESTHOME platform.
We explain it in detail below in the section REGISTRATION.
How do I make sure I have sent the registration form correctly?
The last step you must take, once all the information has been completed, is to click on the SEND button. You will receive a copy of the form in your email, this will assure you that you have sent it correctly.
How do I make sure that I have correctly registered the videopoem for the contest?
Once you have completed the registration form and sent the videopoem you will receive an email confirming the correct registration.

Length
All videopoems must have a maximum duration of 5 minutes, credits included.
Visual and esthetic treatment
Is totally free, being mandatory that words, in the form of poetry are of importance for the relevance of the videopoem.
It is not only sought to attract using images but as well through the synergetic symbiosis of the images and words, may it these be written, read or recited.
Videopoems that do not contain a poem will not be taken into consideration for the contest.
Subtitles
Videopoems in languages other than Spanish must have embedded subtitles in Spanish.. The organization of MALDITO Festival will not be held responsible for possible submitted videopoems with wrong translations or where the translations do not match the original audio.
Format
The videopoem shall be presented in digital format .MP4
Age of the Videopoem
The videopoems that have been submitted to the competition in previous editions or those made before 2021 will not be taken into account.
Rights / Licenses
By submission of the videopoem, the author acknowledges and guarantees that all rights and permission for image, music, and text are owned by himself and allows to screen the videopoem within the frame of the festival.

· Attach the videopoem to the form in a download link (Google Drive, Dropbox, Wetransfer…) or the videopoem file.
Although it is not essential, we would also like you to attach the following high resolution files to the form: Photograph of the author of the videopoem. Photograph of the author of the poem. Promotional poster. Promotional images, stills…
Minors must accompany their entry with the following authorisation signed by their legal guardian DOWNLOAD AUTHORISATION
To consider a work for the competition it is essential to register it in its entirety: registration form (1 x videopoem) + sending files.
You will receive an email confirming the correct registration.

Visual and esthetic treatment
Its treatment is free. Poetics will need to be, however, of utmost importance in every film. The films must feature a poetic purpose, whether because of their leitmotiv or because their visuals (techniques and/or treatments) have a poetic aim.

By submission of the film, the author acknowledges and guarantees that all rights and permission for image, music, and text are owned by himself and allows to screen the films within the frame of the Festival.
In case the work is selected, it must meet these requirements
Codec: H264 | Format: MP4 | Aspect: 16:9 or 4/3 | Size: 1920x1080px | Bitrate: 10MBPS – 15MBPS | Frames: 24 or 25fps | Subtitles (if necessary): SRT, STL or TXT synchronous with the image | Trailer: in VOSE or VE: MP4 and between 5-10 Mb. Frames: 24 or 25fps

Maldito Festival de Videopoesía is not responsible for wrongs translations or works where translation is not faithful to the original audio track.

Although it is not essential, we would like you to attach the following files, in high resolution, to your FESTHOME file or attach the files to the registration form.
– Press dossier of the film
– Film trailer
– Author’s photo (preferably 1500 x 2000 pixels, approx.)
– Poster (preferably 2000 x 3000 pixels, approx.)
– Advertising photos, photograms… (preferably 1920 x 1080 pixels, approx.)

· To consider a film it is essential to register it, within the registration deadline, in its entirety: REGISTRATION FORM (1 per film) + FILM REGISTRATION (on the FESTHOME platform).
